The event is centered on A.S.T.I.D.E., Art for Social Transformation and Intercultural Dialogue in Europe which is a cultural initiative coorganised by cultural centers of five different States (Austria/Next Kunst, Belgium/deBuren, Italy/Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, Malta/St.James Cavalier, Spain/Hangar) that was financed by the European Union, within the Culture Programme, funding 2006, Strand 1.2.1 - Cooperation measures.

Participants to the meeting will be Members of European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission, personalities and professionals of culture and civil society; the event will include a key note speech by internationally recognized artist Michelangelo Pistoletto (2003 Venice Biennale’s Golden Lion for Lifelong Achievement), the concert Bauernhimmel IV by composer Anselm Schaufler, performed by the 14 musicians Ensemble Zeitfluss, conducted by Edo Micic, the performance "Untranslatables" by Christoph Schwarz, Yolanda de los Bueis, Elisa Marchesini, Sarah Vanhee and the preview of the book, "Untranslatables - a guide to translingual dialogue", created within the frame of the AsTide project.

We think the whole initiative that takes us to this meeting is of greatest importance as the 5 participating countries represent the pillars of an experimental cultural platform that is willing to be extended to the entire European region joined with the Mediterranean countries.
We are convinced that it is from now on necessary to pay more and more attention to the interrelation between the different cultures of these countries and on this cultural basis make the international policies advance.
We believe that only with a solid and rich cultural layer there can there be a real political progress in the future.
